Running Shadowfang Keep is worth it, if only for the Robe of Arugal. I managed to get it the second run through!
A helpful tactic is to stay at the top of the stairs (where you first enter room) and heal from there. The tank will meet up with him on the other side. This way, you can easily pull off heals and have less chance of getting controlled.
