A WoW-Appropriate Pic: Using a Potion of Treasure Finding
Pardon Me While I Fly My Geek Flag...
Killed a Naga in Vash'jir while using the treasure potion, and a tiny treasure chest was in the loot! Woot! LOL
I am putting this pic up because I liked how it's a Treasure Chest.. and I guess it's kind of like those little treasure chests that you get while killing mobs in the appropriate zones using a Potion of Treasure Finding.
For general quest completion questions, I found this youtube video to help you get through the different areas using the various abilities you pick up during the quest. But, if you are like me, you probably ran into a few problems just getting it started... this is my experience.
The Problem
Okay, so after several attempts, I couldn't even start the Be Raptor quest. I spoke with Priestess Hu'rala to start the mind control portion to become a Captured Lashtail Hatchling, but for the next hour I went through quest hell. First of all, I wouldn't be able to speak with the first raptor (despite interact bubble), nor do I alarm any of the NPCs, and going through the instance to escape, there are no other raptors. In fact, I ran out of Zul'Gurub without incident, and without completion.
Success! I was finally able to do my quest!
This is What I Did
Removing WTF and Cache folders didn't fix it. Leave vehicle function didn't work. Interact with Target also doesn't work. One forum suggestion was to change dungeon difficulty to normal 5 man. It didn't work, and after yet another relog, I finally Reset All Instances, and set it to Normal 5 Man Dungeon Difficulty... and it worked!
If you don't know how to do this, just r-click your portrait, go to Dungeon Difficulty, make sure it is not set on 5 man heroic, and then select Reset All Instances. To be safe, I also made sure I was out of shadowform and not on a mount, though I think that has nothing to do with it.
Once you can actually start the quest and go through it properly, it's actually quite fun. If you run into difficulties with skull placement, torching tikis, or which paths to take, check out the video I embedded. It really helps! Now go get your Lashtail Hatchling WoW Vanity Pet from ZG!
One of my friends has cancelled their WoW subscription as a result of the cross realm dungeon finder premium paid service announcement. No price for this service has been announced, nor is it up on the PTR, but Blizz is in the process of creating this. The benefit of this is being able to party up with your Real ID friends across realms for dungeons. The con is you have to pay for it, and many feel this creates an unfair advantage to those who can't or won't pay for this service. Only the person doing the inviting has to pay for it, you do not need to pay in order to be invited.
Qpounder (a druid in catform) with his Panther Cub pet. Papa and Baby.
I love Mama Mount & Baby Pet matches, but this is another twist on the whole match thing. Druid catform with the Panther Cub vanity pet! Looks great, and they are so adorable. Here, the panther cub is napping with it's druid daddy!
If you are interested in obtaining a panther cub pet of your own, the questline becomes available on your main city's message board. I believe you need to be 85 to get this quest, and be sure to use the portal rather than the zepplin (it tends to bug).
Congrats to Qpounder and thanks for the screenshot photo op!
So, today I went down to Deepholm and managed to finally grab the bomb quest that I accidentally turned in. When I finally made it up to the Jadefang ledge (with Calsong's help) I was disappointed to see that the Jadefang wasn't there.
Four hours and one ZG heroic later, Jadefang finally spawned. I killed the rare easily and (no surprise) the Tiny Shale Spider pet was there. I think it would match nicely with a Battletank mount, so that means even more Archeology for me!
Many thanks goes out to Calsong from the guild "Turas Mor" for waiting it out with me. We ran a very successful Zul'gurub heroic and he helped to scare off any alliance thinking of stealing the Jadefang. Remember, Jadefang is tameable, so it is coveted by hunters and pet collector's alike. The average spawn time of Jadefang seems to range from 4-6 hours.
Patch 4.1 may have just been released, but MMO-Champion just announced the teasers for Patch 4.2! And since I'm a vanity pet collector, I thought I'd link the pics here so I can drool at my leisure. So far, no announcements as to where the Winged Lion Pet comes from, but they did release the model for it.

As for the adorable Dragonwrath Whelpling pet, it comes as a reward for completing Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest - Guild Edition (there is no page as of 5/4/2011, but I set the link as a placeholder in case it does appear). However, there is no absolute confirmation if this pet is indeed a reward or not. All we can do is wait and see.

Other pets (and a new PvE mount) slated for release include:
Hyjal Bear Cub - which looks like it's related to the bear chucking quest in Mount Hyjal.
Fire Lasher - obtaining it is unknown as of May 4, 2011
Patch 4.2 PvP Mounts
These mounts are slated as rewards for existing rated battleground achievements. Blizz hasn't announced which achievements are required as of May 4, 2011.
Horde PvP Mounts, rewards for rated battleground achieves
Alliance PvP Mounts, rewards for rated bg achievements
WOW! My first sighting of the Voodoo Figurine pet (and possibly a realm first). This is one of the new archeology pets from Patch 4.1 that comes from surveying Troll dig sites. I haven't dug up anything since the Patch dropped, but this gives me incentive to get back into it.
While commiserating over the archeology grind, Flamingheart said, "LOL, I kinda just started doing it a few days ago, haven't spent a lot of time on it. It's kinda boring unless you got someone to chat with." Indeed.
I was near Flamingheart when she got the achievement for finding a rare artifact, and the pet was it! Impressed by her luck, I congratulated her and struck up a small conversation. Thank you Flamingheart from the guild "Boondock Zombies" for letting me SS it... or it didn't happen!
Hanging out in Orgrimmar with two of my friends, Alacracity from "Nightshift" and Calsong from "Turas Mor". Both of them had Raven Lord Mounts, except me. I'm just sitting here with my plain old Cenarion Hippogryph (j/k I <3 U hippogryph!).
I ran Setthek Halls today hoping I got as lucky as Alacracity (his dropped earlier in the day), but no, I got some kind of plate shoe :P
Now I love shoes, but plate just doesn't cut it for me. I didn't even bother disenchanting it. I just DELETED it out of spite. In hindsight, I could have used the gold. /shrug.
L-R: Aiboh on Swift Zulian Panther Mount and Lkpriest on Swift Zulian Tiger Mount
So I was just about to head to bed when I spotted the new Panther Mount from Zul'Gurub (ZG) in Orgrimmar! A week into Patch 4.1 and the Panther Mount has dropped for lucky player Aiboh from the guild "Ancient Lords of Chaos". This is my first real personal sighting that I was able to get an SS for proof. The Swift Zulian Panther drops from High Priestess Kilnara, aka the panther boss.
As for me and my Zulian Tiger Mount, I got mine on the final day of ZG, before The Shattering. After month after month of farming, I was ecstatic when it dropped during that fateful final run when it seemed all hope of obtaining one was lost. And though he wanted it badly, Lastknight passed it to me. /melt.
The popularity of big cat mounts is especially high for members of the Horde Faction. Alliance has the Nelf mounts, so seeing an alliance player astride a sabre mount is not a big deal. Perhaps they will covet the new raptor mount instead? Well, if I see an Alliance on a raptor, I'll be sure to SS it.. or it didn't happen!
Lkpriest, Guardian of Cenarius on her Cenarion Hippogryph and Cenarion Hatchling vanity pet.
So, everyone is talking about the Cenarion Hatchling and about how 100% of proceeds go to Japan Relief. I wanted one for a long time! Ever since I got my Cenarion Hippogryph, I hoped to some day either get it through the TCG or maybe Blizz will bring out an obtainable pet.
Well, since the announcement was made that raiding is going to be put on hold in my guild, I was bummed. Thinking to cheer me up, Lastknight went and got the pet for me from the Blizzard Petstore. When I dropped a few hints about it, he just smiled and said to look in my mail. There it was! I was so excited!
Pets really are a great way to a pet-collector's heart. It's also a way to send a gift to your WoW sweetheart! Plus you are doing a good deed.
I also posted a video blog earlier today regarding some of the new WoW pets and achievements, as well as discussing a few bugs on your way to getting these pets. Perhaps I'm a pet addict, but we meet on Sundays.
